Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate the development and effectiveness of a relationship enhancement program for stepfamilies with adolescent children. A total of 18 people participated in the program, of whom 9 were selected as an
experimental group and the other 9 as a control group. The participants were those who had been remarried for more than a year with children. Consisting of 6 sessions, each with a distinct goal, the program was conducted once a week for 6 weeks from the first week of September, 2015. The program was found to have made significant differences in cohesion, role strain, marital satisfaction, communication, and problem solving in stepfamilies. This program can be used to help stepfamily members deal with and solve their interfamilial problems and conflicts and enhance their family relationship. Also, this program can help to prevent stepfamily breakups and contribute to successful remarriage life.
